Volleyball Recap: Guardian Angels Central Catholic's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Guardian Angels Central Catholic dropped down to 14-2 on Tuesday, ending the team's 13-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers, falling 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Despite the loss, Guardian Angels Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from Emma Cohee, who had 17 assists and eight digs. Cohee is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. Tessa Lund also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

As for Bishop Neumann, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. That three set margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Leading Bishop Neumann to victory were Madison Wiese and Lily Woita. Wiese had eight digs and four aces, while Woita had ten digs. Those four aces gave Wiese a new career-high.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Bishop Neumann should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. The Bluejays will square off against Cedar Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (17 vs. 137). Meanwhile, Bishop Neumann (ranked 22nd) will meet Aquinas (ranked 213th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
