Baseball Recap: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Takes a Loss

Scotch Plains-Fanwood was the 4-3 winner over Summit when they last played one another on April 4th, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since May 7, 2024.

Alex Tabares was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leo Nardi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Summit, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7.
