Recap: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. University City Centurions

The Mira Mesa Marauders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 42-31 win over University City. That's two games straight that Mira Mesa has won by exactly 11 points.

Ivorii Seals continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mira Mesa's points. Alyssa Otero was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why University City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chaya Scott. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Scott is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played.

University City struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mira Mesa posted eight assists.

Mira Mesa pushed their record up to 9-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for University City, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Mira Mesa will face off against Eastlake at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Eastlake is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.6 points per game. University City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Escondido Charter at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Escondido Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
