Basketball Recap: Wyatt Carey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Thomas Jefferson Academy

Edmund Burke Academy won the last time they faced Thomas Jefferson Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans walked away with a 73-62 win over the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars.

Edmund Burke Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Carey, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Carey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Reddick, who went 9 of 22 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds.

The win got Edmund Burke Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Edmund Burke Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-33 victory against David Emanuel Academy on the 10th. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-39 defeat against Brentwood on the 10th.
