Volleyball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Find Success

Mountain Island Charter posted their closest win since August 23rd on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Polk County Wolverines. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raptors.

Mountain Island Charter can attribute much of their success to Kelly Lazaroski, who had ten digs and three assists. That's the most digs Lazaroski has posted over her last eight matches. Tarriah Washington also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Polk County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aslyn Scruggs, who had ten digs and two aces, and Reeve Carroll, who had 13 digs and ten kills. Carroll is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Mountain Island Charter's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Polk County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Mountain Island Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Community School of Davidson on the 27th. As for Polk County, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Mountain Heritage on the 30th.
