Baseball Recap: Mission Bay Beats Chula Vista for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Mission Bay put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Chula Vista Spartans by a score of 6-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Buccaneers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Mission Bay got a great performance from JJ Hicks as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Kaden Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Josh Phelps was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mission Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Mission Bay's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Chula Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission Bay will be taking part in a tournament against Bishop's at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Chula Vista, they will take on Foothills Christian in a tournament on Saturday. Foothills Christian's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Chula Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
