Basketball Recap: M.L. King Takes a Loss

If M.L. King was feeling good fresh off their 55-16 takedown of Berkmar last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions were beaten by the Midtown Knights 71-27 on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, M.L. King had strong showings from Khloe Wilson, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Zya Taylor, who had nine points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariyah Reynolds, who earned two points along with 11 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.

Hailey Wortmann continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Midtown, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. Journey Bryant was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

M.L. King's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Midtown, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

M.L. King didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-21 win against Clarkston on the 6th. As for Midtown, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-44 defeat against Creekside on the 5th.
