Softball Preview: Hidden Valley Titans vs. Salem Spartans

The Hidden Valley Titans are on the road again on Friday to play the Salem Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Hidden Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Pulaski County, taking the game 7-4. The victory was just what Hidden Valley needed coming off of a 12-2 defeat in their prior match.

ALEXIS MCFARLAND spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. Those seven innings set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Hidden Valley let ALYANA DRAGOO and CAMLYN MORSTAD loose on the outfield. DRAGOO went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, while MORSTAD went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Salem made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fleming on Thursday. Salem blew past Fleming 23-0. That 23 run margin sets a new team best for Salem this season.

Hidden Valley's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Salem, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
