Baseball Recap: Gann Academy Beats Brimmer & May for Their Third Straight Win

Gann Academy waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Brimmer & May Gators 17-1. The Red Heifers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.

Shai Sohn was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Gann Academy's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Sohn was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ilan Newman and Julian Heffernan did most of the damage at the plate: Newman went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles, while Heffernan went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Gann Academy is undefeated when Heffernan posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Noah Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Gann Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Gann Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Brimmer & May, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
