Florida high school baseball: Cooper Jones tops state home run leaderboard

North Marion slugger leads Sunshine State with 12 home runs.

Cooper Jones of North Marion (Citra) leads Florida high school baseball with 12 home runs this season according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps.

Jones is hitting .378 this season and has helped the Colts reach tomorrow's state semifinals. He has had multi-home run games three times this season and on April 7 he rocketed three bombs over the fence.

Four future Division I players are tied for second in the state with 11 home runs. Braden Holcomb of Foundation Academy (Winter Garden) is headed to Vanderbilt, Adrian Santana of Doral Academy (Doral) to Miami, Collin Priest from Mount Dora Christian Academy (Mount Dora) to Michigan and Caden McDonald of Sickles (Tampa) to Central Florida.
