Baseball Recap: Somerville Takes a Loss

Somerville lost against Iola last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Somerville came up short against Iola, falling 16-1. The Yeguas just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Christian Esqueda made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Esqueda is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Somerville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Iola, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Somerville will head out on the road to take on Richards at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richards has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something Somerville will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Iola, they will be playing at home against Milano at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
