Baseball Game Preview: Erie-Prophetstown Panthers vs. Kewanee Boilermakers

For the second straight game, Erie-Prophetstown will face off against Kewanee. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Boilermakers at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Erie-Prophetstown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Erie-Prophetstown turned things around against Kewanee on Thursday. They skirted past the Boilermakers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 22, 2024.

For Kewanee's part, Logan Peed was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Peed was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Peed wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colson Welgat, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Abram Hicks also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kewanee's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. As for Erie-Prophetstown, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
