The Bosque Bobcats will challenge the East Mountain Timberwolves at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bosque has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight defeats, while East Mountain will come in with 12 straight wins.
On Saturday, Bosque came up short against Hozho Academy and fell 9-4.
Luca Kalishman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.
Meanwhile, East Mountain made easy work of Sandia Prep on Saturday and carried off a 17-2 victory. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Quinlan Gwyther made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, East Mountain got a massive performance out of Charles Birdwell, who fired off two triples, three runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, Birdwell posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rylen Radosevich, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
East Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sandia Prep only posted an OBP of .318.
East Mountain's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Bosque, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bosque has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts.
