Basketball Recap: Morristown-Hamblen East Starts Season with Win at Home

Morristown-Hamblen East gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 66-29 win over the Claiborne Bulldogs. The Hurricanes pushed the score to 57-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had no chance of recovering from.

Morristown-Hamblen East was led to victory by Molli Stuffle and Kennady Phillips. Stuffle went 5-for-12 en route to 22 points and four steals, while Phillips shot 58% from the field to rack up 14 points along with seven boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Valentine, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Looking ahead, Morristown-Hamblen East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Karns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Claiborne, they will face off against Knoxville Central at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
