Baseball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Jaxson Kneifl made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Wayne is 6-1 when Kneifl posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Adrian Contreras, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Lincoln Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Wayne will face off against Platte Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wayne's pitchers better be ready for this one: Platte Valley has averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. Lincoln Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
