Football Game Preview: Sweetwater Red Devils vs. Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders + How To Watch

The Sweetwater Red Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sweetwater took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 14-7 victory over Chula Vista. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The critical scores for Sweetwater came from Zane Willis and Sean Carlos.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei Catholic). Everything went their way against Otay Ranch last Friday as they made off with a 35-9 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won three games by 25 points or more so far this season.

Sweetwater better keep an eye on Jordan Dumaran. He was instrumental in Mater Dei Catholic's win, rushing for 206 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Dumaran is now averaging an impressive 112.9 rushing yards per game.

Mater Dei Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 299 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Sweetwater's record is now 4-5. As for Mater Dei Catholic, their record now sits at 5-3.

Sweetwater was taken down by Mater Dei Catholic 47-14 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
