Softball Recap: Kenmore East Takes a Loss

Kenmore East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They came up short against the Grand Island Vikings, falling 11-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 14-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Grand Island, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Grand Island's part, Natalie Kopf and Hannah Simpson did most of the damage at the plate: Kopf went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Simpson went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Kopf's first of the season. Lily Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Kenmore East has already played their next game, a 12-0 defeat against Niagara Falls on the 2nd. As for Grand Island, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Lewiston-Porter on the 2nd.
