Softball Recap: Stansbury Takes a Loss

If Stansbury was riding high fresh off their 22-4 takedown of Park City last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stallions fell 8-5 to the Murray Spartans on Wednesday. The Stallions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Savannah Merritt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bonnie Barnett, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Stansbury's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Murray, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Coincidentally, Stansbury and Murray will both be playing Hillcrest the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host the Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Stallions will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
