Basketball Recap: Tompkins Takes a Loss

After flying high against Morton Ranch last Thursday, Tompkins came back down to earth. The Tompkins Falcons came up short against the Cinco Ranch Cougars on Friday, falling 77-55. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Cougars are ranked 82nd).

Aniya' Foy continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cinco Ranch, shooting 5-for-9 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double on 41 points and nine boards. Foy has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 50 times she's played. Lydia Polk was another key player, going 7 of 10 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Tompkins dropped their record down to 18-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Cinco Ranch, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 23-5.

Tompkins has already played their next match (against Seven Lakes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cinco Ranch will square off against Mayde Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
