Volleyball Recap: Simla Takes Down Center in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Simla had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Center Vikings 3-0 on Friday. The Cubs are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 17 straight.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Simla was: they took every set by at least 20 points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-2, 25-4.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Simla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrey Layton, who had six aces and four digs. Those six aces gave Layton a new career-high. Ava Leininger was another key player, getting six digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Simla was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Simla's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Center, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 12-11 record.

Coincidentally, Simla and Center will both be playing Dayspring Christian Academy the next time they take the court. The Vikings will head out to face the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cubs will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
