Soccer Game Preview: Saint James vs. Maret

The Saint James Saints are taking a road trip to square off against the Maret Frogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Saint James is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Georgetown Day, who was ranked third in their home state at the time (Saint James was ranked 14th). The Saints took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mighty Hoppers on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for Saint James in their meetings with Georgetown Day: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Maret was not quite Georgetown Day's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Mighty Hoppers by a score of 2-1.

Maret now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Saint James, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-1.

Saint James came out on top in a nail-biter against Maret in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
