Pusch Ridge Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-40 victory over the Sahuarita Mustangs. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won 12 games in a row dating back to last season.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy was led to victory by Benjamin Lambe and Noah McKinney. Lambe dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while McKinney shot 43% from the field to rack up 16 points along with seven boards and five assists. McKinney has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Johnson, who posted eight points and six boards.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Sahuarita still got an impressive performance from Gabe Epling, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 22 points. Another player making a difference was Armani Bennett, who had nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Sahuarita and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy will take on Parker at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sahuarita, they will face off against Poston Butte at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
