The Perry Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Barker Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Perry barely beat Caledonia-Mumford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Raiders on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellowjackets considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Walker Briggs made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Briggs was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Perry's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Maximus Siewert was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Perry: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-5 otherwise. Tyler Harvey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caledonia-Mumford only posted an OBP of .179.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Barker brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Wilson 10-9. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jackson Prynn was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ireland Brady, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Michael Kalynycz was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Perry has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Barker, they moved to 4-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Perry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Barker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts.
