Softball Recap: Lafayette Has No Trouble Against Ville Platte

Lafayette's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the Ville Platte Bulldogs. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Lauren Williams looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Haylan Chapman and Caroline Terro did most of the damage at the plate: Chapman went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs, while Terro went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Chapman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Ewing, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lafayette's record now sits at 7-3-1. As for Ville Platte, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-2.

Lafayette didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-6 defeat against Southside on the 11th. As for Ville Platte, they will welcome Opelousas at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ville Platte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
