Basketball Recap: Murphysboro Red Devils vs. Steeleville Warriors
Murphysboro was the 62-25 winner over Steeleville when they last played one another back in November of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Devils took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Thursday.
Rylan Reiss went supernova For Steeleville., almost dropping a double-double with 30 points and nine boards. That's the most points Reiss has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lynlee Rubach, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Steeleville, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Murphysboro will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carbondale at 6:00 p.m. on December 4. As for Steeleville, they will be taking part in a tournament against Goreville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
