Football Game Preview: Clinton Central Bulldogs vs. Carroll Cougars

Clinton Central hasn't had much luck against Carroll recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Clinton Central has given up an average of 32.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clinton Central is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Eastern on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Comets 63-6. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Comets are ranked 129th).

Meanwhile, Carroll was just a hair shy of victory last Friday and fell 28-27 to Eastern. While the Cougars had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Comets 6-0.

Clinton Central will have to keep a close watch on Aiden Wiles and Cale Peters, a pair of players who had a big impact on Carroll's prior game. Wiles rushed for 123 yards and one score, while Peters rushed for 79 yards and a pair of TDs.

Carroll's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Clinton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Clinton Central was dealt a bruising 45-6 defeat at the hands of Carroll when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
