Patrick Henry Academy comes up short despite Hugh Fairey's dominant performance

If the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots were riding high off their 68-42 takedown of the Dorchester Academy Raiders on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Patrick Henry Academy fell to Calhoun Academy 75-70. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Patrick Henry Academy in their matchups with Calhoun Academy: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Patrick Henry Academy lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is Hugh Fairey. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The game was Fairey's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Andy Searles, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Patrick Henry Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calhoun Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Thornburg, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds. Thornburg also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. Colt Layton was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six assists.

Patrick Henry Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Calhoun Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Patrick Henry Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cross Schools at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Cross Schools focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. Calhoun Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Colleton Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
