It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Middletown had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons to the tune of 36-7. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Tyler Galamay and Trenton Griffith. Galamay rushed for 127 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries while Griffith rushed for 116 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Those 127 rushing yards gave Galamay a new career-high. Jamisen Jackson also deserves some recognition as he rushed for his first rushing yards of the season.
Middletown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The win (which was Middletown's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points over those games. As for Archie Williams, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.
Middletown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 48-8 win against Concord on the 21st. Archie Williams does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
