Soccer Game Preview: Lake Zurich vs. Vernon Hills

The Lake Zurich Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Vernon Hills Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Zurich will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Lake Zurich's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Lakes. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Lake Zurich were the better team in the second half.

Emily Bowen and Reilly Novak scored both of Lake Zurich's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Vernon Hills was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mundelein. While losing is never fun, Vernon Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Mundelein are ranked 88th).

Lake Zurich's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four contests. As for Vernon Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1.
