Preview: Nenana Lynx vs. Hooper Bay Warriors

Nenana has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Hooper Bay Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nenana will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alaska Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Hooper Bay is ranked second).

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-27, which was the final score in Nenana's tilt against Seward on Friday.

Meanwhile, Hooper Bay came tearing into Saturday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Unalakleet and snuck past 77-74. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Hooper Bay has posted since January 6th.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hooper Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Long, who scored 21 points. Long hasn't dropped below 15 points for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Latrell Lake, who scored 16 points.

Nenana's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Hooper Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.

Nenana was taken down by Hooper Bay 64-33 in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can Nenana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
