Flag Football Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Poway Titans + How To Watch

The Del Norte Nighthawks will head out on the road to square off against the Poway Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Del Norte is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

If Del Norte beats Poway with 32 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Nighthawks claimed a resounding 32-0 win over Oceanside. The Nighthawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Del Norte found their leader in freshman Katelyn Maley, who threw for 204 yards and three TDs. Maley has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times she's played.

Del Norte didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Dylan Angstead, Khloe Florez, and Baylee Buell picked up one apiece. Buell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Poway posted their closest victory since September 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Torrey Pines 13-12. The win was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Falcons are ranked 25th).

Del Norte's record now sits at 12-4. As for Poway, their record is now 11-6.

Del Norte couldn't quite get it done against Poway when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 20-12. Can the Nighthawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
