Basketball Recap: North Newton Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

North Newton had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the Boone Grove Wolves and fell 57-29. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

North Newton lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nicholas Bartrom, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Lacosse, who put up eight points.

Boone Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ian DeNoyelles, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 14 points. Thomas Doe was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points along with five boards and three steals.

North Newton has already played their next matchup, a 68-33 loss against Hebron on the 5th. As for Boone Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-33 victory against Lake Station Edison on the 1st.
