Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Williston couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 30-8 to the Hawthorne Hornets on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Red Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

John Jazikoff threw for 157 yards and one TD. Raul Alvarez was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards. On the ground, Kameryn Manneh rushed for 60 yards.

Hawthorne found their leader in sophomore Derryek Gillins, who rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns. Those 137 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Gillins.

Williston's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Hawthorne, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Williston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hawthorne, they will be playing at home against Chiefland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Hornets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
