Recap: Cherry Creek Bruins vs. Mullen Mustangs

On Friday, the Cherry Creek Bruins faced the Mullen Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherry Creek walked away with a 52-42 win over Mullen. The win was nothing new for Cherry Creek as they're now sitting on six straight.

Tianna Chambers was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points. Braelynn Barnett was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Cherry Creek pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Mullen, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherry Creek will take on Overland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Overland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Cherry Creek is ranked second). As for Mullen, they will head out on the road to challenge Smoky Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Smoky Hill comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
