Softball Recap: Desert Mountain Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Desert Mountain had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past the Boulder Creek Jaguars 10-2. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Emmy Raines was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Desert Mountain let Cyan De Luigi and Eve Huczek run wild. De Luigi scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Huczek went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those two runs gave De Luigi a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Giana DeSpirito, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Desert Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boulder Creek only posted an OBP of .300.

Desert Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 10-1-1. As for Boulder Creek, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Mountain will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mountain Pointe at 3:45 p.m. on March 25th. Boulder Creek will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Mesa at 3:45 p.m. on March 24th.
