Ava Sims and Susan Lowther secure win for Riverview Sarasota

Recap: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Sarasota Sailors

The Riverview Sarasota Rams are still undefeated this season after their match against the Sarasota Sailors on Tuesday, but the Sarasota Sailors came as close as anyone has to beating them. Riverview Sarasota sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-63 victory over Sarasota. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Leading Riverview Sarasota to victory were Ava Sims and Susan Lowther. Sims dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Lowther dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds. Sims continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Noto, who scored nine points.

Despite the loss, Sarasota still got an impressive performance from Sofi Miller, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy McClain, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sarasota were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview Sarasota only racked up six assists.

Riverview Sarasota's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Sarasota, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Riverview Sarasota won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Venice at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Venice will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Riverview Sarasota is ranked 20th). As for Sarasota, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
