Baseball Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Glenbrook North Spartans

The Barrington Fillies/Broncos will square off against the Glenbrook North Spartans at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Barrington's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Wheaton-Warrenville South with a sharp 6-0 win.

Will Renshaw looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Juilan Ashley-Friedman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jack Swarbrick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Glenbrook North narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Saint Viator 5-4. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by just one run.

Barrington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Glenbrook North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
