Basketball Recap: Ridgemont Skates Past Vanlue with Ease

Ridgemont won the last time they faced Vanlue and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Ridgemont Golden Gophers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Vanlue Wildcats 81-44. Given the Golden Gophers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Wildcats are ranked 827th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vanlue's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryce Wallen, who posted ten points, and Owen Roszman, who scored eight points. Those ten points gave Wallen a new career-high. Brady Hamilton was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ridgemont's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Vanlue, their loss was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgemont will head out to face off against North Baltimore at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ridgemont's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. Vanlue has already played their next game (against Van Buren), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
