Basketball Recap: Valley Christian's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After only 28 points in their last match, Valley Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Whittier Christian on Tuesday. The Valley Christian Defenders took down the Whittier Christian Heralds 71-57. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-49 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Whittier Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leland Carrido dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Carrido has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Garrett Birtja, who posted eight points.

Valley Christian's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-16. As for Whittier Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.
