Basketball Game Preview: East Surry Cardinals vs. North Surry Greyhounds

East Surry hasn't had much luck against North Surry recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The East Surry Cardinals will head out to take on the North Surry Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

East Surry took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 44-31 victory over North Wilkes.

Meanwhile, North Surry came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles, posting a 76-43 win. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Eagles are ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Surry pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for East Surry, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Things could have been worse for East Surry, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 84-68 loss to North Surry in their previous meeting on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Surry's Kam McKnight, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 33 points.
