Baseball Recap: Whittier Takes a Loss

Whittier fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Garfield on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 9-7. The Cardinals just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Derrick Monreal and Andrew Ruvalcaba did some serious damage despite the final result: Monreal scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Ruvalcaba scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Whittier's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Garfield, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whittier will take on La Serna at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garfield, they will square off against Legacy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
