It's playoff time, and Berkeley Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over The Villages Charter Buffalo on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Buccaneers as they're now sitting on five straight.

It was another big night for Luby Jones Jr, who rushed for 148 yards and three scores. He is becoming a predictor of Berkeley Prep's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cooper Hayes, who threw for 201 yards and one TD while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Berkeley Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out Ja'Dence Kennedy three times. Leading the way was Jared Zames with two sacks. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Mateo Brink was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

When it comes to explaining why The Villages Charter lost, don't look at Antwon Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. The Buffalo also got a significant boost from Tranard Roberts, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.

Berkeley Prep now has a winning record of 5-4. As for The Villages Charter, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.

Looking ahead, Berkeley Prep will face off against Bradford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes' defense has only allowed 5.7 points per game this season, so the Buccaneers' offense will have their work cut out for them. The Villages Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
