The Douglas Tigers will take on the Reed Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Douglas will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Douglas barely beat Damonte Ranch the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 18-12 win on Thursday.
Cameron Coats made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Coats was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailee Lister, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Simpson, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Douglas hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 16 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Reed faced Bishop Manogue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Raiders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Miners 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Morgan Metscher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Reed saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breanna Staats, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Reed is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Douglas, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Douglas has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Reed struggles in that department as they've averaged .477. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Douglas suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Reed in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
