Baseball Recap: Fredericksburg Sets Scoring Season-High Against Llano

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fredericksburg). Everything went their way against the Llano Yellowjackets on Thursday as the Fredericksburg Billies made off with a 16-6 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Creek Frantzen, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. John Jablonsky was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Fredericksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Llano only posted a batting average of .318.

Fredericksburg's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Llano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredericksburg will face off against Bandera at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Llano, they will take on Copperas Cove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Llano has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
