Football Recap: Lake Linden-Hubbell Comes Up Short

Lake Linden-Hubbell entered their contest against Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lakes had to suffer through a 42-12 loss at the hands of the Miners. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lakes have suffered since September 6, 2024.

Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield]'s victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cory Aspinwall, who rushed for 112 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries. Those 112 rushing yards gave Aspinwall a new career-high. Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] also got a significant boost from Leland Hollenbeck, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 118 yards.

Lake Linden-Hubbell's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield], they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
