Basketball Recap: Kenedy Comes Up Short

Kenedy extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping them down to 1-10. They received a blow as they fell 49-31 to the Refugio Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1345th, while the Bobcats are ranked 528th).

As for Refugio, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6. They haven't had any issues with Kenedy recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Refugio found their leader in sophomore Laken Cancino, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Cancino is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazaelynne Lewis, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Kenedy has already played their next game, a 60-21 defeat against Yorktown on the 2nd. As for Refugio, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-32 victory against Pettus on the 2nd.
