Basketball Recap: El Cajon Valley Braves vs. Valhalla Norsemen
El Cajon Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 64-48 bruising from the Valhalla Norsemen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Norsemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-43 last Tuesday.
Valhalla was led to victory by Andrew Mikhail and SAMEER MONQAD. Mikhail went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points and five boards, while MONQAD posted 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. What's more, Mikhail also posted a 70% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Delon Hana, who scored seven points in addition to five boards and five steals.
El Cajon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Valhalla, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Coming up, El Cajon Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Granite Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite Hills will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something El Cajon Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valhalla, they are taking a road trip to challenge West Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valhalla knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully West Hills likes a good challenge.
