Hilliard has gone 8-2 against Trenton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Both will face off at 5:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Hilliard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
Hilliard will head into Friday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Yulee on Friday. Everything went Hilliard's way against Yulee as Hilliard made off with an 81-58 win. The Red Flashes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hilliard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ta'Veon Dunbar, who went 10 for 16 en route to 27 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Hall, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards.
Meanwhile, Trenton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 52-44.
Trenton found their leader in sophomore Mason VunCannon, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. VunCannon's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Noah Owens was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.
Trenton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Hilliard, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hilliard has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 24.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
