Soccer Recap: Walden Grove Comes Up Short

Walden Grove entered their game against Salpointe Catholic on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Walden Grove Red Wolves lost 4-1 to the Salpointe Catholic Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Red Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Lancers are ranked third).

Walden Grove's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4. As for Salpointe Catholic, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.

Walden Grove will host Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are taking a road trip to square off against Sahuaro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Sahuaro: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Salpointe Catholic has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
