Baseball Game Preview: Glenwood Titans vs. Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs

The Glenwood Titans will head out to square off against the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Glenwood has four straight victories, Mahomet-Seymour has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Glenwood beats Mahomet-Seymour with five runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Titans came out on top against Rochester by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.

Cameron Appenzeller made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3.

Appenzeller wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Murphy, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was Murphy's first of the season.

Glenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mahomet-Seymour came up short against East Peoria on Saturday, falling 14-1.

Glenwood's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mahomet-Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 19-11.
